Whole House Reverse Osmosis Systems

Question:
Can anyone recommend a reputable manufaturer of a "whole house" reverseosmosis water softening/conditioning system? We have pretty hardwater. I don't know how many grains of hardness the water measures, but believe me, it doesn't matter as much as the amount of staining wehave throughout the house, wherever the water comes in contact withanything!

Answer: I do not think you want a whole house RO. You show no need for one andthey are hard on metal plumbing and add the various metals back intothe water. The storage tank for whole house RO has to be rather largeand you need another pump and pressure tank to get the water upstairs. And the cost of operation is high and why use expensive RO water toflush toilets etc.? OTOH, a water softener is rather simple. You'llhave to have a water analysis to be able to determine what you need ifanything and to properly size equipment including a softener.'Staining' can be caused by more than just hardness.
