Question: How safe is u\v technology in water purification in home?
Answer: Depending on where you live it may not even be necessary. U/V is only effective if you change it regularly and if it remains clean. If there is even one speck of dirt on the light, the dirt casts a shadow, allowing the bacteria to form and gather there. If you are living in the GTA, you should note that the water is checked every 4 hours for bacteria counts. The only thing really that should come out of the water is the chlorine.Well u/v light does kill microbes and helps purifying water to a certain level. However I have heard a few years ago about a study report which states an increased susceptibility to cancer in people drinking u/v purified water. It may not be directly due to water but maybe the U/V light destroys or removes certain elements or microbes from the water that strengthens our immune system against cancer or maybe it causes some mutation in the water elements that may result in cancer over a long period of time.
