Question: I will be stating maintenance on Monday. What kind of water do I useto mix my drinks? Do I still use distilled? Also, with regard to the portions of food in the maintenance plan, thequantities in the book are very vague. Does anyone have more definateidea of the quanities? For instance, I I am using nuts as a protein, how much?
Answer: I wondered the same thing, but like Lisa, I started with distilled andtransitioned to spring water. I think I made the right decision, because since then I have learned a little bit more about distilledwater and while it is a helpful to use during the detox, it would notbe good for you to drink all the time (there are arguments on bothsides, but I believe this). Think of distilled water as a "hungry"water. The hydrogen in distilled water grabs on to any minerals itcan get a hold of and forms a bond that pulls th emineral out of yourbody. This is extremely helpful for detoxing, but it does notdifferentiate between good minerals and bad minerals. Thus, if youdrank distilled water all the time, you would probably suffer frommineral deficiencies. Thus, I would only drink distilled during adetox and would not over do it by drinking it all the time.Especially since my enemia did get very bad after my detox, whichtells me that I probably lost a lot of iron during my detox. In theend, follow your heart! Here is an excerpt from an article on distilled water that I haveread: "Since distilled water is like a vacuum without any minerals, it willactually leach beneficial minerals from your body to balance it out. While this maybe beneficial for a short period during some sort ofdetoxification regimen, this is usually highly counter productive inthe long run." ---Dr. Joseph Mercola Solely based on what I interpreted from the book:I started maintenance today. I used distilled during the detox andplan to use it through the first week of Maintenance then will use thewater from my house. I have had my hubby install a filter on thehouse and there is one on the fridge as well. I am hoping this willwork for me.
