Glass Bottled Water

Question:
Can a bar denie you a glass or tap water?! I don't want people who's bosses say yes, but I want to know legally. I thought that they have to give yo ua glass if you ask for it.

Opinions?

Answer: I can't give you the actual law, but from having worked in the food industry, we were told it was illegal to deny anyone water from the tap.

When you think about it, what if you were a designated driver who doesn't drink soft drinks (I don't drink and can't drink soft drinks so if I went into a bar I'd drink water).

What are you going to do? Sit with your friends and drink milk? (Hey...you might be lactose intolerant too).

A place denying you water is trying to force you to buy their product. Not much good when you can't drink the other products.

Sure they can. They operate the restaurant and they set the pricing. If they give you tap water there is still cost involved. Washing the glass and having someone serve it to you. Many will do it as a customer service, but many will not. Think about it though. If you've got 20 - 30 people come through a club on any given night wanting one or two glasses of water that's 60 dirty glasses they have to wash, pick up, and have someone give it to you. Now it adds up cost wise.
