I went out and tried it. Dug a hole 3 ft deep and about 3ft around. Put the cup in the center of the bottom. Spread the clear plastic on top with the small rock in the center and the large rocks holding it on the edges. Won't work. The only thing is the damn water keeps gathering on top. Then it drags the plastic down into the hole where it spills. Maybe I need bigger rocks to support the weight of the water that gathers on top. (Of course it could be that my location is the Pacific Northwest, west side of the Cascades?)
