Question:
Does anyone have recommendations on reverse osmosis water filtration systems? I am buying a house and definitely want one, but can't decide which one to get.

Ecowater and Culligan are two front runners. I think they are a wash, either way. Anyone have experiences or direction you can point me in ?

Answer: recently did some searching on water systems. I don't think I'd buy Culligan. They seem to go out of their way to make a proprietary system where you can't get parts from anybody else. I also think they're ferociously overpriced.

Do a search for Reverse Osmosis in a big search engine like http://www.dogpile.com and read up on the isses. I really think you can save hundreds and hundreds of dollars using top grade parts off the shelf.

You don't say you have a need for one but that you want one. If there is no need then you will be spending much more money than needed to improve your water to the level you'd like it to be IMO. You can do that with a high quality undercounter or countertop drinking water filter with a carbon block cartridge and the same style separate faucet. You get them from water treatment dealers, not big box or other type stores. An independent dealer selling 'off the shelf' types will usually be the best source, quality and price.
