After reading back postings in coffee in concerning "best coffee makers", I decided I would look into the Braun FlavorSelect/AromaSelect KF 187/185. Does anyone use this coffee maker and if so, do you like it? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Anyone know a good place online to order this coffee maker (any special discounts?

Answer: I've got the Braun 12cup FlavorSelect (with built-in filter, clock, timer, water level window, etc). It is a good unit and I use it every day (and my wife uses it to brew tea). It makes the same good cup of coffee whether I make 6 or 12 cups. I'll recommend several things to you based upon my experience and what I've learned from this Group.

I'd avoid considering the "I can put my grounds and water in the night before and have coffee ready in the morning" methodology. This is only a recipe for stale coffee as ground coffee stales within hours after being exposed to oxygen. It's ok to let the water sit overnight to help remove the chlorine (so I've heard), but I'd invest in a good under-sink water filter/purification system rather than buy the Braun water filters that go inside the unit. I'm using a PUR under-sink filtration system and my family loves the taste of the water from it. I think the water level viewing window on the Braun is handy and the clock, well I've got 3-4 clocks in the kitchen already so who needs another one? If I had it to do all over again, I'd look for a drip unit that brewed the coffee directly into a thermos. After I brew through my Braun, I immediately get the coffee into a 12 cup thermos to get the coffee off the burner of the Braun.
