Question:
I pay about US$.40 or $.50 per gallon (let's see, that's about $.13 per liter) for bottled water. It's just filtered tap water, but it tastes a lot better than what I get from the tap (which in turn does taste better than gasoline). IDEAS?

Answer: People complain about the price of petrol, but it's a lot cheaper per litre than bottled water. It tastes better than petrol, but I could never afford to run my car on it.

I'm in the habit of buying a small bottle of water when there's no choice - say, about once a year - and from then on refilling it from the tap. I've been told, though, that this is not advisable because the water leaches poisonous chemicals from the plastic. So far I've seen no evidence to confirm or deny that rumour.

The water is labelled mineral water or spring water, but to me it tastes about the same as tap water. People who want filtered tap water buy their own filtering system to attach to the tap. I don't find that necessary in my own city, where the tap water is perfectly drinkable, but there are certainly places where the tap water is either too hard or too full of mud.
