Question: I heard on NPR that Raleigh ranks rather high on the list of cities with poor water quality. Does anyone have any better detail than that? Can anyone recommend a good bottled water delivery company? Is it better to buy a purifier instead of getting bottled water delivered?
Answer: At our abode, we have a Brita water filter pitcher. We fill it when it is empty and have clear drinking water whenever we need it. We don't have the whole water supply going through it, only what we drink. Neat thing about that filter. The water that comes through it is clearer than most bottled water I've seen. If you plan to be in your house/apartment for a while it may be better to install a reverse-osmosis filter system under your kitchen sink. They cost less than $300, are operated by the water pressure alone, and give you a separate water tap that will deliver about three gallons a day of excellent water. It is the same system used to produce much of the bottled water sold in the grocery stores. I have been using one of these filters for more than a decade and now cannot stand to drink municipal water.
